There are three basic body types, the endomorph, the mesomorph and the ectomorph. It important for you to know, not only which body type you have but also, the correct way to eat and exercise for your type. Endomorphic Body Type This is the body type that has more fat then they would like to have. If this is you, you should cut way back on carbohydrates such as sugar, wheat, grains and milk products and instead eat lean proteins such as egg whites, chicken, fish, etc. along with fresh raw vegetables and fruits. Eat smaller meals, 4 to 5 times a day about every 2 to 3 hours. Cardio exercise is essential and should be done for at least 30 mins everyday. It is also important to do some strength training at least 3 days a week as this will tone your muscles and speed up your metabolism. Mesomorphic Body Type This is the naturally athletic body type. If this is you then consider yourself lucky but realize that you still have to exercise and eat right if you want to stay in shape or get into better shape. Eat healthy and well balanced while keeping your protein intake high and your carb and fat intake moderate. Do intense strength training 3 to 4 times a week and do mild cardio on your off days. Ectomorphic Body Type The ectomorph is the skinny body type. This person usually wants to put on some size but has a very hard time doing so. If this is you then you will need to take in more calories, and you should still do it by eating 6 to 8 small meals throughout the day. You should limit cardio, sports and other activities that will burn up calories and instead concentrate on strength training 3 days a week. Work in the 6 to 8 rep range on the basic exercises such as squats, bench press, rows, press over head, etc. and on your days off be sure to rest as much as possible.
