My Before and After Bodybuilding Transformation

I will be turning 59 years old this summer and have been working out since I was 16 years old. Despite eating a healthy diet most of the time, calories have a way of adding up and body fat percentage also slowly increases. I was shocked to find I had gained too much weight, and wasn't happy with how I looked or felt.

Even though I have been involved in bodybuilding and fitness for all these years I had never done a competition before, I was too busy, etc. and kept putting it off. So, New years day of 2021, I decided no more putting it off this is my year, and started to diet and workout to compete in the Idaho Muscle Classic in June, with the goal of taking my weight class. I applied all my knowledge on exercise and nurition to get in best shape of my life at 58 years old.

My Training

I am a big believer in High Intensity Training, my weight training workouts are hard but usually only last 30 to 45 minutes. While normally I feel that working each body part once a week is sufficient, I decided to work most body parts twice a week for a while. I also added more cardio workouts, and near the end was doing cardio every day.

My Diet

A healthy diet is just that healthy, but it's not what you need to get as lean as possible, for that I followed the Get Lean Quick program see https://www.trulyhuge.com/get-lean-quick.html

Basically, it's a high protein, low fat and moderate carbohydrate diet. Mostly eating, egg whites, chicken, turkey, tuna, vegetables, oatmeal, rice and yams.

I will be going more in depth into the whole process over the new few weeks, but in the end I lost over 20 lbs of fat, gained muscle, looked and felt great and took first place in my weight class in an NPC national qualifier bodybuilding contest.
