Uneven Strength

I'm a beginner with this, but whenever i do an exercise say, bench press or military press. Instead of my muscles getting the same amoutn of work. On my right side only my shoulder and arm gets the work out, and on my left side only my pectoral and trapezius get the work out. I imagine its due to my left side being just weaker overall. any tips on how i can stop this?
