Your mouth is the first point of entry for viruses, bacteria and toxins. Oil pull to reduce them over the long term
Oil pull regularly to remove toxins from your mouth and body
Oil pulling is a recent practice originating from the ancient Ayruvedic "oil gargling" practice which was used to detoxify the body through the mouth.
The main reasons to oil pull are:
The reported benefits of oil pulling include:
The process of oil pulling is relatively simple. You take a teaspoon to a tablespoon or so of vegetable oil (any vegetable oil will work, although I recommend coconut oil for its myriad of health benefits) and put it in your mouth. Then for 15 to 20 minutes, you work the oil in your mouth by pushing, pulling, and drawing it through your teeth. The more surface area it comes in contact with, the more germs, toxins, bacteria, parasites and viruses it "pulls" out. After 15 - 20 minutes, you would spit the oil, along with all the toxins, into the toilet and flush it. Rinse your mouth with warm water and spit that out too. NEVER swallow the oil as it's full of the unwanted critters.
Oil pulling works much like the oil in your car's engine does. It attracts/pulls the grime and dirt from the engine, keeping it clean and running "healthier", longer and smoother.
Realistically once a day will give you fantastic results. If you want to increase the benefits, you can oil pull three times a day, before meals (on an empty stomach).
Make your longest oil pull session be in the morning, before breakfast. Before you have anything to drink or eat. That's when the bacteria activity is the highest. There is a reason why the smell of your breath in the morning has been given its own name: Morning Breath. You can leave it at that. My suggestion is to put the oil in your mouth, then go about your morning routine. Prepare breakfast, check email, jump in the shower. The 20 minutes will fly by when you're busy with other tasks.
The above are the main questions I've been getting. If you have any more, feel free to ask. I'll be happy to answer.
If you've oil pulled before, what has been your experience?
