Review of the new Mike Mentzer book by Paul Becker

Mike Mentzer and Me: My Heavy Duty Journal of High Intensity Training The Logical Approach to Bodybuilding

Paul Becker has always held a respectful name in the bodybuilding field. I've interacted with him in the past as a customer, via his Truly Huge website, and always found him a pleasure to deal with. So when he asked me to proof-read his new book, I jumped at the offer! It was an honour. And, as I expected, Mike Mentzer and Me was a joy to read.

Like me, he's was one of Mike's clients, giving his book more weight than mere written words. Paul's journey to discovering Mike Mentzer and Heavy Duty isn't disimilar to my own. Upon hearing sound logic, he immediately grasped its practicality, adopting it as "his way". Then adjusted the Heavy Duty tenants through his life, to better put them into effect. That was Mike's #1 goal. To get everyone to think for themselves, and become their own personal trainer, so they reaped the best results possible from their efforts.

Going along through Paul's journey, reveals a special insight into the man's bodybuilding evolvement. He's a logical thinker, unafraid to tweak Mike's methods where needed, as he better understood himself and his needs. It's this which makes this book especially pertinent. Through sharing what worked best for him, others are in a privelaged position to learn by example. So, they too can experiment and continue to perfect their own workouts on their own personal journey. Mike would be proud of Paul's expression of his methods.
