Female bodybuilders generally are not appreciated by the public and they get a lot of hate speech thrown at them. Female bodybuilders are criticized for disregarding the female body to make it more masculine. They are accused of blurring the lines between "normal masculinity" and what society has accepted as femininity.
Unfortunately in our western culture we require women to be skinny, weak and most importantly desirable. Many female bodybuilders are stigmatized because the general public think that this extra muscle that a bodybuilding woman carries is not desirable and considered to be too masculine looking.
Female bodybuilders are supreme athletes that know adding muscle onto a female body takes intense dedication and a lifestyle commitment required to be successful. The last thing any female bodybuilder concerns herself with are comments like "gross"or "too manly".
