Used Smith Machines For Sale

Posted by: Les (flerickson@salisbury.edu)

I'm thinking about buying a "low-cost" smith machine for use at home. Sears sells them online for 200-400 dollars. Does anyone have any experience with non-commercial grade smith machines? Are they smooth to use and functional? Good enough for home use? I'm not a heavy lifter. I'm unable to try one out before buying because I live out in the sticks and Sears does not have them in stock (but will order them for free); I could send it back if not satisfied. thanks, Les

Les, unless you are really wanting to use the smith machine, I would recommend getting a good set of dumbbells (5-50lbs). smith machines tend to restrict the natural arc of movement seen in both squat and bench press exercises.
