Canít Do a Push-Up? Now You Can, With Push-Up Bench

About the inventor: Dave Harms, a teacher and coach in Central Iowa, has come up with a unique piece of exercise equipment: The Push-Up Bench. He has been coaching football, track and wrestling for 16 years at both the high school and middle school levels.

Why itís needed: There are lots of products designed for people who are already fit. This product is designed for those who want to get fit and may face challenges: little upper body strength, overweight. With the Push-Up Bench, you have almost immediate success. When you set your initial goal, for example 20 push-ups, you can reach your goal 11 different times on the way to a full push-up on the ground. This allows you to have the satisfaction of achieving success along the way as well as continually pushing yourself.

How it Works: The Push-Up Bench puts you at an incline, which transfers the weight off your hands to your feet. With a normal push-up, you have to press approximately 70% of your body weight to complete the exercise. With the Push-Up Bench, you only have to press 28% of your body weight. As you get stronger you move through the 11 levels, as the bench gets closer to the ground- working at your own pace. With this bench you can perform push-ups with perfect technique (full range of motion). Once you reach the ground and are doing regular push-ups you can increase the difficulty by doing 11 levels of decline Push-Ups. By sitting inside the bench you can also do seated Pull-Ups, another exercise a lot of people canít do normally.
